FireStar Rose

The Firestar Rose was created as a consequence of the Black Saturday fires of February 7th 2009. The rose honours the lives which were lost in these terrible fires and pays tribute to the many dedicated CFA volunteers who were involved in the battle to stop them.

The rose is the first in the Firestar series. Funds raised from the online sale of each FireStar rose in the series will be donated towards CFA and their brigades, including the Ocean Grove Fire Brigade.

To find out more or to purchase a Fire Star Rose online visit http://www.firestarrose.com.au. When purchasing a rose online, please nominate your local Ocean Grove Fire Brigade. Funds donated will be used to purchase vital equipment and enhance training of CFA volunteers.

Dialling 000 Print

What happens when I dial 000?

When you dial 000 and ask for fire, the operator will ask you:

  • Where is your emergency? What is the location of the fire?
(The street name and number and suburb? The nearest intersection?)
  • What is the type of incident? (Building fire, home fire, bush fire, car fire etc.)
  • How many people are involved? (For example are there people in the house or car?)
  • Is other assistance required? (If there are people involved you may require an ambulance also, or if it is a road accident with a car on fire you may also require an ambulance and police.)
  • What's your name, address and telephone number? (Contact details in case we need to follow up with you later.)
  • Also, if we already have a report of that incident we will advise you and may not need as many details.

Callers who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech/communication impairment - and rely on a TTY or a computer with modem to make calls - may call 106 if reporting an emergency.

For further information see the National Relay Service website:
http://www.relayservice.com.au/topics/2065.html

Is it a free call?

All calls to triple zero are free and can be used at any time of the day or night for emergencies.
