The Ocean Grove Fire Brigade employs 4 appliances to service and protect the local and surrounding communities. Here is some of the details about our current appliances. Ocean Grove being an urban community is also situated in an area of vast grass, scrub and bushland. Infact there is a substantial nature reserve on the towns doorstep which the brigade monitors and protects. This presents the brigade with approximately 180 call outs for a wide range of jobs. To assist the brigade in attending and effectively servicing these wide and varied jobs, we are luck to have range of different firefighting appliances. Ocean Grove Pumper
The Ocean Grove Pumper is used primarily for response to incidents in urban areas such as house fires, road accidents, gas leaks etc. It is the workhorse of the brigade and is a relatively new appliance only being a few years old (delivered in 2005). This appliance services the majority of the jobs which the brigade is dispatched to. The truck carrys a maximum crew of six and carrys a range of equipment including but not limited to Breathing appartus, hoses, hydrant, ladders, protective equipment, extinguishers, etc. Ocean Grove Tanker 1
The newest in the fleet is Ocean Grove Tanker 1 which is primarily designed for combating wildfire. However, this appliance can also be deployed to urban incidents such as house fires, road accidents, etc. Tanker 1 was comissioned shortly after the opening of the new Ocean Grove Fire Station in early 2008 and has already proved to be an excellent appliance both in urban and wildfire situations. The truck carries a maximum crew of 5 and is equiped with a range of tools for fire supression, such as hoses, ladders, hydrant, Breathing apparatus, etc. This truck allows the brigade to quiclkly respond to just about any type of situation. Ocean Grove Tanker 2
Oldest of our appliances, this trusty workhorse has served the Brigade very well over the past 15 years. Ocean Grove Tanker 2 is a brigade owned appliance which is primarily used for wildfire supression. It carries a maximum crew of 6 with three firefighters sitting in the back of the truck. The quipment used on this truck is similar to that of Tanker 1, and it can also be responded to urban situations if required. Ocean Grove Car
The brigade also employs the use of a Car (4WD) which is primarily used to transport crew and equipment to incidents, as a command post / control point as well as for general brigade administration duties. The car is a brigade owned vehicle.
